Calcined kaolin is the coal gangue calcined in a kiln to a certain temperature and time, so that its physical and chemical properties will have a certain change to meet the specific requirements. Coal gangue is the coal refuses discharged in the process of coal mining and coal washing. It is a kind of black gray rock with lower carbon content and harder than coal in the process of coal formation. Its main composition is Al2O3, SiO2, in addition to the amount of Fe2O3, CaO, MgO, NaO and KO. Because of its simple mineral composition and pure chemical composition, with great characteristics of high temperature resistance, good dispersion, stable chemical properties and excellent electrical insulation, calcined kaolin is widely used in various industrial fields.
Characters:
Calcined Kaolin clay has advantages of high brightness, low impurity and strong chemical inertia. It is easy to disperse in water and oil based structure. It is widely used in water and oily paint, putty and sealed pastern, latex paint. It can improve the mechanical properties such as the moisture resistance; impact resilience of the paint, the floatation resistance capacity of the pigment all can be improved
Application:
- In paper coating operation, calcined kaolin can replace titanium dioxide or other higher-costs pigment to reduce production costs, enhance the smoothness, opacity and gloss of paper, improve paper’s ink absorption.
- In the coating industry, calcined kaolin acts as a functional additive, providing excellent coverage properties. It can partly replaces titanium dioxide, not only reducing the cost of paint but also adjusting the coating gloss, improving the mechanical properties of the film and the anti floating and color uneven of coating pigments.
- it can widely used in the fields of high-grade paint, ink, plastic, rubber, wire and cable, insulation materials etc.
